NCA Students and Families,

Good afternoon NCA! I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy. Thank you all for your patience and hard work as we start the school year. I have been very pleased with the students and their approach to masking. We have some room to improve on the social distancing in the hallways and community spaces. Overall, very pleased and proud of the students.

The McLeod County case rates came in last week at 25.40 and the projected rates for this week are coming in at around 15. This would mean that the trend has started in the positive direction and we will continue to watch to make sure this trend continues.

Lunch: The Department of Education is allowing for all student lunches to be free of charge until 12/31/2020.  If you have currently chosen distance learning, please contact the school to indicate your need for a lunch. Lunch pick up for distance learners will be on Fridays, anytime before 11 am and after 12 pm. This will allow staff to serve the students who are face2face during the lunch period without interruption. I am not sure if your home districts are allowing food to be picked up by non-home district students as they did last spring. Please contact your home district to inquire.

Materials: Distance learning students with an IEP can request paper copies of materials. This request should be made with your child’s case manager and the school office. Distance learning students without an IEP will be allowed paper materials by request with a valid reason which will be approved by the school director in cooperation with the classroom teacher. Any materials being picked up will be available for pickup on Fridays during school hours. Please work closely with your classroom teachers in requesting paper materials. Those materials are expected to be returned the following Friday when the next set up paper materials is to be picked up.

Technology: In the event that we go full distance learning for all students, this will require technology to be distributed. In order for you child to receive a device, you must sign a release and liability form in the school office before the device can be distributed. We have assigned chromebooks for each student so that we are ready for mass distribution if we go full distance learning.

Thank you all for your time and have a blessed day.
