New Century Academy will continue our face2face learning model on Monday, August 31st. This is a change from my communication via school email last night. I have received new guidance as of today that allows us to continue just as we did this first week of school.
First, I want to apologize for what might appear as a flip-flop approach. Please know that I am making decisions based on the guidance I receive from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Education.
This afternoon I was able to contact the Coordinator for our districts Regional Support Team. This team is a partnership with the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Department of Health and local public health. The guidance I received is to look at the numbers as a trend rather than week by week. It was not MDH or MDE’s inention for each category to be a rigid rule or for districts to switch between models week by week.
Although this information would have been much more helpful a week or two ago, it is better received now than later. Thank you all for being flexible and understanding. I am excited to have the students continue their in person learning. I will send another communication early next week by email and US mail that will clarify even further our process for moving between models.
