NCA Students & Families,
I hope this message finds all of you healthy and safe. I have a few updates for your consideration. Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope this information is helpful. Please contact the school if you have further questions or needs.
FREE FOOD: Michael Foods will be giving away free food in Hutchinson and Glencoe on Friday, April 10th from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. The food products include liquid eggs, hard boiled eggs and potato products. The Glencoe site is Glencoe-Silver Lake High School and the Hutchinson site is in parking lot B behind Main Street’s Sports Bar. This is drive up only and one package per vehicle.
Lunch/Material Deliveries: Starting Tuesday, April 14th ACC Midwest will be transporting all meals/material with ACC Midwest staff. The only exception will be with one of the Hutchinson routes. This will continue to include some New Century Academy staff. Please provide a cooler outside your front door for food and materials. Materials will be delivered on the last day of each week and picked up the first day of each week.
Technology: Students still in need of a device and internet connection should contact the office to express their need. We are close to obtaining limited hot spots for families who still can’t connect.
Attendance: Students are expected to attend the lesson through google classroom and google hangouts meet for each of their classes for attendance purposes. In addition, students should connect daily with a paraprofessional to be counted as present.
On Fridays, students are expected to connect with a paraprofessional or one of their scheduled teachers. All teachers have office hours during the day on Fridays and are available to assist students with their learning.
Locker Items: We continue to ask that students make an appointment with the office in order to pick up their locker items.
School Calendar: Please follow the original school calendar. There is no school this Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th.
Mental Health Needs: New Century Academy staff are available if you need anything. We understand that during this time students and family members may experience more mental health needs than normal. In addition to our teachers and paraprofessionals, we have two staff members available to help with these concerns. Please contact Ambrosia Doty (support staff) at [email protected] or Samantha Bernardy (nurse) at [email protected] if you need assistance. Please reach out via email or call the school.
Thank you all for your participation in our distance learning program. We will all continue to improve each day. We miss all our students and look forward to seeing you again. Please take care of yourself and enjoy as much of the spring weather as possible!
Jason Becker, Director
