ACTION ALERT THAT IMPACTS NEW CENTURY ACADEMY!
THE QUESTION TO ASK YOUR STATE SENATOR:
“WHY ARE ALL PUBLIC-SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION DUE PROCESS AID?”
A bill being heard in the Senate Finance Committee (SF920) on Wednesday morning (TOMORROW MARCH 22) would create a new revenue source for schools to provide Special Education Teachers time to complete due process forms and procedures.
However, ONLY schools that have collective bargaining units would be eligible for this revenue.
- Proposed Revenue for FY24 is $116 per pupil.
- Proposed Revenue for FY25 and later is $65 per pupil.
All public-school special education teachers deserve equal resources and time to complete special education services during the school day whether a school has a collective bargaining agreement or not. Special education teachers have the same federal and state requirements and students deserve the same level of service no matter the employment status of their teacher.
