Greetings and thank you kindly for visiting the New Century Academy website! My name is JJ Vold, and I am excited to serve as the director of NCA. We have so many great kids here at New Century Academy, and we are focused on preparing all students for the post secondary option of their choice. Our ultimate team goal is to create a place where all students learn first, grow every day, and are prepared for their futures. We strongly believe that all kids can learn at the highest level, students will begin to discover their passions and dreams through project based opportunities, and we will always strive to prepare all learners for success in an ever changing 21st Century. The NCA team is committed towards working together in efforts of building and sustaining the highest quality school possible for all students that we serve.
About me
I graduated from Brainerd High School in 1998, earned my Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education Social Studies from the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks in 2002, Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008, and K-12 Principal Certificate from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2009. Prior to becoming the director of New Century, I taught three years of middle school Social Studies, Reading, and Language Arts, and an additional three years of high school Social Studies. Furthermore, I served as an assistant girls varsity hockey coach, head boys varsity hockey coach, and USA Hockey Select 16’s Festival head coach. I feel so incredibly fortunate for the opportunities I have had to work with so many great kids and teams throughout my career, and am thrilled to build great memories with all students, staff, and families at NCA.
