NCA Team Building Day!

NCA students will be having a team building advisory day next Wednesday, December 21st! Students will start the day in a grade level class, then participate in team building activities within advisories, including: skate n place, competitive games between advisories, potlucks, ice skating, and an annual game of boot hockey! This is going to be a great day for NCA students and staff.

National College Fair

At New Century, we believe that all students should have the opportunity to go to college! Our master teachers work very hard every day to prepare all kids for admission and success at the college of their choice. We will be attending the National College Fair at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 8:00AM until 2:00PM. Students will learn about college applications, college admissions, financial aid, the variety of majors offered, and they will have the opportunity to talk with college counselors. All students, grades 9-12, are eligible to attend this great event — admission slips will go home with students soon!

New Century Parent Connection

The New Century parents are currently forming a group of alumni parents, current parents, and potential new parents of New Century Academy students! This group will meet once per month and have tons of fun helping New Century grow and become the greatest school in America!

In addition, the NCA parent group will help with our great events, provide valuable feedback and insight to the school, bring new ideas for New Century to improve as a school, and launch a non-profit New Century Academy Foundation. This Foundation will be a separate organization / account — and the parent group will determine which programs any fundraising efforts go to support — all money raised will go directly to our kids and programs.

However, most importantly, the Parent Connection group is a great opportunity for New Century parents to meet one another, develop life long friendships, and provide that extra support system to the students and staff of New Century Academy.

We want all students to be thinking about college, and preparing each and every day to reach and achieve your highest goals and dreams — to find a passion for learning! After-School Activities coming

New Century will be offering the following after school activities for the 2010-2011 school year: Aviation, Archery, Boys and Girls Lacrosse Club, All Sports Club, Student Council, Yearbook, School Newspaper, Study Sessions, Woodworking, and Derby Car. We encourage all students to get involved — please contact your child’s advisor for more information!

New Century Academy and KDUZ have started a monthly radio show! The mission of this monthly radio show is to keep our current students and families updated and share our progress with the community. New Century Information Meetings in August

New Century is hosting information meetings for any students and families interested in taking a tour, learning more about our school, and possibly enrolling for the fall of 2010!

The information sessions are scheduled for Monday, August 9, at 7:00PM here at New Century, and Tuesday, August 10, at 7:00PM at New Century.

Another session has been added on Thursday, August 12th at 6:00 PM at the Silver Lake Auditorium. Come and meet us there!

We will also be at the McLeod County Fair August 18-22 — stop in and see us!

New Century is excited about the progress our students are making and the programs we are building! We are focused on ensuring all kids receive a high quality education, and graduate with the foundation they need to attend the post secondary institution of their choice. New Century is a grade 7-12 public school of choice authorized by Hamline University, and enrolls approximately 25 students per grade. International Travel Opportunity

Students of New Century have an amazing opportunity to travel internationally next year. Join us now in planning a trip to Italy and Germany slated for May 2011. Travel will include round-trip airfare, motorcoach transportation, 7 overnight accommodations in hotels with private bathrooms, European breakfast and dinner daily, a full-time Educational Tour Director, and 4 sightseeing tours led by licensed local guides.
